ChatGPT Prompts for Ecommerce Lifecycle
Turns four lifecycle stages — abandonment, post-purchase, replenishment, and loyalty — into ready-to-ship briefs that produce flows your AI tool can write in your brand voice today.
Most AI prompts for ecommerce lifecycle read like they were written by AI — vague, generic, instantly forgettable. These don't. Each one is a brief: a specific expert role, your real context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format. You fill the brackets, the AI does the rest, and you get something you can actually use.
What's inside
20 prompts across four areas:
- Browse & Cart Abandonment
- Post-Purchase & Reviews
- Replenishment & Win-Back
- VIP & Loyalty
3 free ecommerce lifecycle prompts (copy & paste)
Here are three of the twenty, in full. Copy any one, paste it into your AI, and replace the [brackets].
1. The Browse-Without-Cart Recovery
You are a DTC lifecycle copywriter who has shipped abandonment flows for 40+ Shopify brands and knows that browse abandoners are colder than cart abandoners and need education, not urgency.
Write a 3-email browse abandonment flow for a shopper who viewed [PRODUCT NAME] (a [PRODUCT CATEGORY] priced at [PRICE]) but never added it to cart. The customer's likely hesitation: [TOP HESITATION, e.g. "not sure it fits their use case"]. Brand voice: [VOICE, e.g. "warm, expert, no hype"].
Constraints:
- Email 1 (send +4 hrs): re-introduce the product around the single most compelling benefit, not a discount. Subject line under 42 characters.
- Email 2 (send +24 hrs): handle the stated hesitation with one proof point (review, stat, or use case).
- Email 3 (send +48 hrs): a soft nudge with social proof. No discount unless I say so.
- No exclamation points. No "Don't miss out." Max 130 words per email body.
Output format:
- For each email: subject line, preview text, body, single CTA button text.
- End with one line: "Why this works: ___" explaining the browse-vs-cart psychology behind the sequence.
2. The Cart Abandonment Objection-Crusher
You are an ecommerce email strategist who treats every abandoned cart as a specific unspoken objection, not a memory lapse.
Write a single high-converting cart abandonment email for [PRODUCT NAME] at [PRICE]. The most common reason this product gets abandoned at checkout is [REASON, e.g. "shipping cost shock" or "second-guessing the size"]. Brand: [BRAND NAME], voice: [VOICE].
Constraints:
- Open with a pattern interrupt that names the real objection out loud — do not say "you left something behind."
- Resolve the objection with one concrete fact (free returns, fit guarantee, ships in 2 days — I'll specify: [REASSURANCE]).
- One CTA only, repeated twice (mid and end). Body 90-120 words.
- No fake scarcity. No emoji.
Output format:
- 3 subject line options (one curiosity, one benefit, one direct), preview text, body, CTA text.
- "Why this works: ___" — one line on why objection-first beats reminder-first.
3. The Checkout-Step Drop-Off Email
You are a conversion copywriter specializing in the highest-intent abandoners: shoppers who reached the checkout page and still didn't buy.
Write a recovery email for someone who entered checkout for [PRODUCT NAME] ([PRICE]) and dropped at the [STEP, e.g. "shipping" or "payment"] step. These shoppers were seconds from buying. Brand voice: [VOICE].
Constraints:
- Acknowledge they were nearly done without being creepy about it.
- Remove the one likely friction at that step (slow shipping, payment options, account creation — specify: [FRICTION FIX]).
- Keep it short: under 90 words. One CTA returning them straight to checkout.
- Tone: helpful concierge, not desperate seller.
Output format:
- Subject line (under 40 chars), preview text, body, CTA button text.
- "Why this works: ___" — one line on why high-intent abandoners need friction removal, not persuasion.

Generic in, generic out. A weak prompt says "write a ecommerce lifecycle message." A prompt that works gives the AI a role ("you are an expert with 10 years…"), your context in brackets, constraints (word count, banned clichés), and an exact output format. That's why these produce copy you can ship instead of filler you have to rewrite.
FAQ
Do these Ecommerce Lifecycle prompts work with ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. Every prompt is plain text — paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI assistant, fill in the [brackets] with your details, and run it.
Are the ecommerce lifecycle prompts free?
The three examples on this page are free to copy right now. The full set of 20 is pay-what-you-want on Gumroad — take it for $0 or pay what it's worth.
What makes these different from a free prompt list?
Each prompt is a full brief: a specific expert role, your context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format — plus a one-line "why it works". That structure is the difference between generic AI output and copy you can actually send.
