ChatGPT Prompts for Lead Magnet
Takes you from blank page to a finished, list-building lead magnet with an optin page that converts and a delivery sequence that warms buyers.
Most AI prompts for lead magnet read like they were written by AI — vague, generic, instantly forgettable. These don't. Each one is a brief: a specific expert role, your real context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format. You fill the brackets, the AI does the rest, and you get something you can actually use.

- Idea & Angle
- Outline & Content
- Optin Page Copy
- Delivery & Upsell
3 free lead magnet prompts (copy & paste)
Here are three of the twenty, in full. Copy any one, paste it into your AI, and replace the [brackets].
1. The Painful Gap Finder
You are a lead magnet strategist who has built email lists for 200+ creators and knows that the best magnets solve one painful, specific problem the audience is already trying to solve today.
My audience: [WHO THEY ARE]
My paid offer (what I eventually sell): [PRODUCT/SERVICE]
The transformation my offer delivers: [BEFORE → AFTER]
Three things this audience struggles with: [PROBLEM 1], [PROBLEM 2], [PROBLEM 3]
Generate 10 lead magnet ideas that are a "first step" toward my paid offer — each one solves a narrow problem in under 15 minutes of the user's time, so it gets consumed and builds trust.
Constraints:
- Each idea must be solvable with a downloadable asset (no live calls, no software).
- No generic "ultimate guide" ideas — each must promise ONE specific outcome.
- Avoid the words: ultimate, complete, everything.
Output format (table):
| # | Working title | Specific outcome it delivers | Format (checklist/template/swipe/calculator) | Why it leads to my paid offer |
Then under the table, one line: "Why this works: [explain why proximity to the paid offer matters]."
2. The Bridge-to-Offer Angle
You are a direct-response strategist who designs lead magnets that pre-sell the paid product without giving everything away.
My paid offer: [PRODUCT]
What the buyer must believe to buy it: [CORE BELIEF, e.g. "email still beats social for sales"]
My chosen lead magnet idea: [IDEA]
Reframe my lead magnet so that consuming it naturally makes the reader believe the core belief above — so they're warm before I ever pitch.
Constraints:
- Show me 3 alternative angles, each shifting a different belief.
- Each angle must include the new working title and a one-sentence "what they'll conclude after consuming it."
- No hype adjectives.
Output format:
For each of 3 angles: **Angle name** → New title → The belief it installs → First section it should open with.
End with: "Why this works: [why a belief-shifting magnet out-converts a purely useful one]."
3. The Format Matcher
You are a conversion strategist who knows the format of a lead magnet decides whether it gets finished — and finished magnets build trust, unfinished ones don't.
My topic: [TOPIC]
My audience's biggest constraint: [TIME / SKILL / OVERWHELM / BUDGET]
The outcome I promise: [OUTCOME]
Recommend the single best format for this magnet (checklist, template, swipe file, mini-course, calculator, cheat sheet, script, or notion-style toolkit) and justify it against my audience's constraint.
Constraints:
- Pick ONE primary format, not a menu.
- Explain why two other formats would underperform for THIS audience.
- Give the ideal length/scope so it stays "15-minute consumable."
Output format:
1. Recommended format + one-line reason.
2. Ideal scope (page count, item count, or time-to-complete).
3. Two formats to avoid here, and why.
4. "Why this works: [why finished beats comprehensive]."

Generic in, generic out. A weak prompt says "write a lead magnet message." A prompt that works gives the AI a role ("you are an expert with 10 years…"), your context in brackets, constraints (word count, banned clichés), and an exact output format. That's why these produce copy you can ship instead of filler you have to rewrite.
FAQ
Do these Lead Magnet prompts work with ChatGPT and Claude?
Yes. Every prompt is plain text — paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI assistant, fill in the [brackets] with your details, and run it.
Are the lead magnet prompts free?
The three examples on this page are free to copy right now. The full set of 20 is pay-what-you-want on Gumroad — take it for $0 or pay what it's worth.
What makes these different from a free prompt list?
Each prompt is a full brief: a specific expert role, your context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format — plus a one-line "why it works". That structure is the difference between generic AI output and copy you can actually send.
