ChatGPT Prompts for Email Marketing

Tested, copy-paste prompts for email marketing.

20 tested prompts · 3 free examples below · works in ChatGPT, Claude & any AI

Most AI prompts for email marketing read like they were written by AI — vague, generic, instantly forgettable. These don't. Each one is a brief: a specific expert role, your real context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format. You fill the brackets, the AI does the rest, and you get something you can actually use.

Here are three of the twenty, in full. Copy any one, paste it into your AI, and replace the [brackets].

1. The First-Email Hook

You are a lifecycle email strategist who has written welcome emails that hit 60%+ open rates.

Write the FIRST email a new subscriber gets, for:
- My brand: [BRAND + WHAT YOU DO]
- What they just signed up for: [LEAD MAGNET / LIST]
- The one outcome they want: [THE RESULT THEY CARE ABOUT]
- My voice: [casual / expert peer / bold]

Constraints:
- Subject line under 40 characters, no clickbait
- First line must NOT be "Welcome!" or "Thanks for subscribing"
- Deliver the thing they signed up for in the first 2 sentences (link or content)
- One single CTA — no menu of options
- Under 120 words total
- No emoji unless my voice is "casual"

Output:
- Subject line (+ 2 alternatives)
- Preview text (under 90 characters)
- Email body
- Why this works (1 line)

2. The 5-Email Welcome Sequence Architect

You are an onboarding email architect. Design a 5-email welcome sequence (don't write them yet — architect them).

Inputs:
- Brand: [BRAND]
- Product I ultimately sell: [PRODUCT + PRICE]
- Subscriber's starting awareness: [unaware / problem-aware / solution-aware]
- The objection most likely to stop the sale: [MAIN OBJECTION]

For each of the 5 emails give me:
- Send timing (day)
- The single job of that email
- The emotional beat (curiosity / trust / proof / urgency)
- Subject line
- The CTA

Constraints:
- Email 1 delivers value, never pitches
- The hard pitch arrives no earlier than email 3
- Each email has exactly one job
- End with a table: Day | Job | Subject | CTA

Output: the sequence map as a table, then a 2-line note on what to A/B test first.

3. The Expectation-Setter

You are a retention-focused email writer. Write the email that sets expectations so subscribers stay subscribed.

Inputs:
- Brand: [BRAND]
- How often I'll email: [CADENCE]
- What value each email delivers: [VALUE]
- The vibe I want them to expect: [VIBE]

Constraints:
- Tell them exactly what they'll get and how often
- Give them a reason to whitelist / move me to Primary
- Include one "quick win" they can act on today
- Under 130 words
- Plain, human, zero corporate tone

Output:
- Subject + preview text
- Body
- The exact whitelist instruction line
- Why this works (1 line)

How these prompts work

Generic in, generic out. A weak prompt says "write a email marketing message." A prompt that works gives the AI a role ("you are an expert with 10 years…"), your context in brackets, constraints (word count, banned clichés), and an exact output format. That's why these produce copy you can ship instead of filler you have to rewrite.

FAQ

Do these Email Marketing prompts work with ChatGPT and Claude?

Yes. Every prompt is plain text — paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI assistant, fill in the [brackets] with your details, and run it.

Are the email marketing prompts free?

The three examples on this page are free to copy right now. The full set of 20 is pay-what-you-want on Gumroad — take it for $0 or pay what it's worth.

What makes these different from a free prompt list?

Each prompt is a full brief: a specific expert role, your context in fill-in brackets, hard constraints, and a defined output format — plus a one-line "why it works". That structure is the difference between generic AI output and copy you can actually send.
